Greetings, I am the son of MSGT John McCarthy who served in WWII as a member of the 101st Airborne Division, Division HQ Company (G-1), and arrived in Normandy on D-Day in Glider #4 of the Keokuk Mission. Earlier this year, I contacted Pat Curran on the Battlebus Forum and he assisted me with my research efforts to locate the landing site of my father’s glider. With the information provided by Pat, I traveled to Normandy this past May, and accompanied by Paul Woodadge, I conducted a site survey of the most likely site of my father’s glider in the field south of the Pratt Memorial. I then walked the path that my father probably took to reach the 101st CP at the Lecaudey Farm on the night of June 6th/morning of June 7th 1944. It was a truly memorable experience and one that was made possible only as the result of research efforts that take place on Forums like this one. In closing, I would like to thank Pat for his assistance with my research project. His effort to stand-up this new Forum to further this mission and continue to help others in quests similar to mine is commendable. I look forward to assisting with the Glider Landing Site Database project. r/Kevin
