RE: Inserting photos into posts Happens to us all Charles! I have just overwritten a GE finder chart for NCAP 'un-locatables' that I spent an hour geo-positioning the black frames on I think it's time to watch some 'Family Guy' on TV and then have another go Regards, Pat
RE: Inserting photos into posts Hi All, a question out to the more Experienced with publishing images. I applied for an account on ADrive and have uploaded couple of images including the pano from Utah beach head. I used the image wizard to add the picture but can't get this thing shown in the thread constantly. Most of times not there, one time visible at least for me. Is it because the ADrive says https? Hmm Hans https://www31.adrive.com/filemanager/downloadfile/66183174/Pano%20Banc%20de%20la%20Madeleine.JPG
RE: Inserting photos into posts Don't think ADrive really is the right choice to add images to posts. It's a file sharing website, not a dedicated photo website. Photobucket and similar photo hosting sites are much more convenient.
RE: Inserting photos into posts Hi Hans, As Niels states, your image needs to be on a server which can be directly accessed by the Forum software. There are several such sites out there offering free space. If you are having problems sourcing a site to put your images on, you can email them to me and I'll put them up on my server and then send you the link to insert into your posts. Hope this helps, Regards, Pat
RE: Inserting photos into posts Hi Niels, Pat, thx. Generated on Photobucket an account. Can you see the pano in the US7/1730 thread now? What is good practice here in citing the source of the images? Hans
RE: Inserting photos into posts Hi Hans, Yes, the pano image is now showing in your post. Have you acquired your new Photoshop yet? Regards, Pat
RE: Inserting photos into posts Hi Pat, will order soon. Do you recommend a certain version for our work here? Hans
RE: Inserting photos into posts Hi Hans, I think the current version is called 'Photoshop CC' and is 'cloud' based as far as I know. You have to pay a monthly subscription to keep your license valid which is not good value in my view. My version is the older 'CS3' which does everything I need it to with images I use on the Forum. The 'actions' feature (aka macros) is a useful feature whereby you can save a set of keystrokes and commands and then run the action automatically on an image. The red border and drop shadow on my posted images are created in this way. The same 'action' also resizes the image to 800 pixels wide. The Adobe 'family' can be seen here. Have you considered any alternative image editors such as the free and excellent GIMP? If you don't have one already, I would also consider obtaining a screen capture program such as Snagit. I find it very useful for quickly capturing part of your screen and also for adding arrows, highlights, symbols etc easily and quickly. Hope this helps Hans. Regards, Pat
RE: Inserting photos into posts Hi Pat, thanks for the info. I will try and use the GIMP free software 1st and see if it is OK for me for moving and overlaying pictures. Hans
