Hello everyone, My name is Wojtek and I come from Poland. I am interested in archive aerial photography from NARA and NCAP Archive (from both sides: Allied and Axis), especially for Poland region, but not only. I am making a list for all reconnaissance sorties above North Poland during the World War 2 made by Allied Reconnaissance Units. In the future I would like to write something about Allied Reconnaissance Units above German marine bases along Baltic Sea. I don't have any direct relation with the D-Day campaign and WWII operation in France (except my old uncle who was fighting in one of British Armoured formation), but I am interested in German Air Defence (FLAK) and German Radar Station on archive aerial photography - many of them we can see around the Lower Normandy. I have some experience in researching of unlocatable aerial photography. I am specialising in Middle-Eastern Europe, however I have already found a few missing frames from North France area. I hope that I can add some new locations for your unknown frames from North France. Sincerely Wojciech
Welcome Wojciech! Glad to have another reconnaissance guru on board Those long range recon pilots were very brave men; flying for hours over open sea with no hope of rescue if things went wrong. Do you know which unit your uncle served with? Regards, Pat
Hello Pat, I want to thank you for accepting me on this forum. Yes, that is true; All long range recon sorties (from North Norway through Germany to Poland and other Middle East Europe Country as well) were very dangerous, however for Baltic Coast just a few missions have failed during the war. I have his diary at home in Poland, I will check this next month when I go to Poland. I have already sent my new "discovery" frames to NCAP (that were nearly 50 of them "un-Locatable"). When they updated their website I will start to search your's Normandy frames. I reckon that it would be better if those two galleries were be linked togetherat NCAP website: "Unlocatable" http://ncap.org.uk/search/keywords/Unlocatable?free-text=yes#free-text=yes&zoom=1&lat=7286132.75144&lon=1669792.3619&layers=B "Un-Locatable " http://ncap.org.uk/search/keywords/Un-Locatable%2B?free-text=yes#free-text=yes&zoom=1&lat=7286132.75144&lon=1669792.3619&layers=B It is a shame that there [on NCAP unlocatable sites] were just a few missing frames from Middle-East Europe. Regards Wojtek
