    Hello there,

This may be old news to some, but anyway. I thought this had been discussed here recently but can't find the relevant thread/post. Maybe it was on Facebook??

I can't take credit for finding this, as it's in a book on St Laurent sur Mer, and the information within has been repeated elsewhere.

This picture, often captioned as being in, or near, Vierville sur Mer, is actually in St Laurent sur Mer.

Both buildings, the main house and the barn, complete with the extension, are still there. Unfortunately no good match up possible with Street View.

    Sean,
There is also a related photo of a GI standing over a dead German soldier.
Am I correct in assuming it was at the same location?

    Hello John,

    Do you mean this one?

I'm not sure about it matching the location. There is also the famous photo of the group of civilains and soldiers looking at a corpse but that doesn't match either, I don't think.

There is this one, with a German wagon outside the barn:

    Hi Sean,
Yes the first photo is the one I was thinking of, but for some reason I thought it may have been an African-American GI. I guess I was wrong. I can see that the building is different too because of the concrete block construction used.
Thanks for posting the photos and nice to now know this location!

    John
