    Hello there

To concur with Niels, I think it's a bit of a general reference. Given the directional specifics within F/O Werner Birkelbach's account I would think if they had moved via Hébert itself he would have mentioned it.

Regarding retracing the route, I'd be up for that. A bunch of us crossed the Cotentin on foot earlier this year so 11,5 miles would be nice:)
Given decent but not excessive breaks 5 hours, maybe 6 would be enough. Plenty of daylight that time of year too...

    Cheers

    Sean

    Sean,

I'm talking about doing it wearing original Glider Pilot gear.

Been wondering about the D14/D115 // D913 crossroads...

Now that we have a large concentration of German PoWs in the western quadrant field of this crossroads confirmed as per post #73 of 'The Horsas at the Crossroads of D115 & D913' thread, which way was this group moved to Utah Beach?

Similarly the column with the French guide (see the 'German PoWs with French Guide' thread); what route did they take to the Beach - we have this lot almost confirmed as having come as far as this crossroads also.

    Regards,

    Pat

I think the Glider Pilots handed over the PoWs to the MP's at the crossroads. The interrogation report mentions handing them over at Ste Marie du Mont but from the footage of them marching through, it doesn't look like they're in the process of stopping. So the next logical place to hand them over would be the crossroads.

Seems to be the common convergence point Neil,

However, I wonder if they used the Hubert hamlet laneway to go 'round the block' in order to keep the crossroads clear for western bound traffic?
