On one of the endless Google image searches that I do, I stumbled across this photograph of a crashed CG-4A in Normandy. Typically, I was on my phone when I saved the photo and I did not save the website address. Now I can't remember where I found it but I believe there wasn't any details regarding the photograph. I found it interesting as it appeared to have a chalk number applied but of a style not seen on any other D-Day gliders. Thoughts? Great photo Neil, Seems to be a stencil effort which I have not seen before either. Could be '12' ??? Have we any photos of confirmed 'Chicago' or 'Detroit' Wacos showing the chalk numbers? Regards, Pat
Good morning: Not a WACO, but this C-47 with the 434th TCG/74th TCS that flew in Mission Chicago, seems to have the same style of lettering as reflected in the WACO's numbering: Charles
It reminds me most on 44the TCS glider making on Holland. But, it needs no explanation that won't fit in Normandy.
