I wonder when the new finding aids for WWII Europe will be available. That is the biggest obstacle to getting the exact photo you are looking for. That is assuming that the finding aids match the available photos. I have found several key gaps in their coverage.
Hi Dale, I wonder if some of these key gaps were 'harvested' before the collection was handed over to Kew in the 1960s NCAP may not have all their collection 'out of boxes' yet - I would give up several days leave to have a rummage through their basement I have located a batch of their 'un-locatables' from sortie US7GR/1746 taken over the Saint-Lo railway station. Preping some finder charts at present. If we can find more of these lost souls then perhaps we can fill some of the gaps you refer to. Regards, Pat
It's funny that a lot of 6 and 7 June 1944 sortie photos never made it into the archive. Funny in a not humorous sense. I have the feeling some amateur historians and souvenir hunters have gotten the best.
